  • How to transfer the ownership of a vehicle or a motorcycle?

    Please prepare the following documents in advance if you would want to transfer the ownership of a vehicle or a motorcycle.

     1. The original copy of the identification documents of both buyer and seller.

     2. Liability Insurance Certificate of vehicle or motorcycle for new owner. (The validity periods of the certificate shall be longer than 30 days.)

     3. Clean up the unpaid traffic penalties and pay the current issued regular tax payments.

     4. A vehicle inspection is needed if the vehicle has been used over 10 years. (For motorcycles that have used over 5 years.)

  • What should I do if my vehicle inspection is overdue?

    People who have overdue vehicle inspection certificates and the license plates have NOT been canceled, please pay the fines and have the vehicle inspected in all the Motor Vehicles Offices (Stations) or authorized institutes in Taiwan with Vehicle License and Liability Insurance Certificate. (The validity periods of the certificate shall be longer than 30 days.) For those who have failed to pay the fines over seven months, the license plates will be canceled by Motor Vehicle Offices (Stations) and not allowed to use the road.

  • I want to buy a used motorcycle, what should I do?

    Please prepare the following documents in advance if you would want to buy a used motorcycle.

      1. The identification documents and seals of both buyer and seller.

      2. The driving permit of the motorcycle.

      3. Liability Insurance Certificate of vehicle or motorcycle for a new owner. (The validity periods of the certificate shall be longer than 30 days.)

      4. Clean up the unpaid traffic penalties and pay the current issued regular tax payments.


    Notices:

      1. Qualified certificate documents of vehicle inspection taken within four months are needed if the motorcycle has been manufactured over five years.

      2. Service certificates provided by service unit and driving license are required if the new owner is a foreign labor.

      3. Departure Certificate, Vehicle Certificate, Vehicle Transfer Agreement and Declaration provided by service unit and driving license are required if the original owner is a foreign labor who has already left Taiwan.

  • What should I do if I lost my vehicle permit?

  • What should I do if I want to change the color of my vehicle?

    If you wanted to change the color of your vehicle, please take your identification documents, seal, Liability Insurance Certificate (The validity periods of the certificate shall be longer than 30 days.) to Motor Vehicle Offices (Stations) for examination. After the qualification is permitted, please alter a registration at service counter to reissue the license permit.

  • What is the regulation for the frequency of automobile periodic inspection?

    1. Private small vehicles (except LPG cars and leased cars) will be exempted from inspection for the first five years after being issued license plate. One inspection every year will be required between 5 and 10 years, and two inspections will be required for more than 10 years.

    2. Commercial large passenger vehicles or high-pressure tank vehicles that have been manufactured for more than 10 years must be carried out at least 3 inspections every year.

    3. One inspection every year for trailers.

    4. Other vehicles that were manufactured less than 5 years will need to be inspected once every year and twice every year for vehicles more than 5 years.
