  • What is the consequence if the Fuel Fee is overdue and unpaid?

    According to the act of Highway (Article 75 & 78), vehicle owners who fail to pay Fuel Fee as regulated shall be notified by highway authorities to pay within a time limit. If the payment is overdue, it will be fined between NTD 300 and NTD 3000. In addition, vehicle alterations or vehicle license plate renewals shall be suspended.
    I. For Vehicle owners, the fine criterions of overdue Fuel Fee payment:
     i. For the accumulated fines of every single vehicle are between NTD 900 and NTD 6000
      ◆ within a month overdue, the fine is NTD 300.
      ◆ with not less than one month but less than two months overdue, the fine is NTD 600.
      ◆ with not less than two months but less than three months overdue, the fine is NTD 900.
      ◆ with not less than three months but less than four months overdue, the fine is NTD 1200.
      ◆ with not less than four months overdue, the fine is NTD 1800.
     ii. For the accumulated fines of every single vehicle exceed NTD 6000
      ◆ within a month overdue, the fine is NTD 500.
      ◆ with not less than one month but less than two months overdue, the fine is NTD 1000.
      ◆ with not less than two months but less than three months overdue, the fine is NTD 1500.
      ◆ with not less than three months but less than four months overdue, the fine is NTD 2000.
      ◆ with not less than four months overdue, the fine is NTD 3000.
    II. For Motorcycle owners, the fine criterions of overdue Fuel Fee payment:
     i. For the accumulated fines of every single motorcycle are between NTD 900 and NTD 1800, the fine is NTD 300.
     ii. For the accumulated fines of every single motorcycle are over NTD 1800, the fine is NTD 600.
    III. For those who continuously violate the regulations of item I or II, a compulsory execution will be performed.

  • What are the ways to pay for Fuel Fee?

    1. In person:

       Please take your payment notice of Fuel Fee to financial institutes, post offices, convenience  stores (7-11, FamilyMart, OK stores or Hi-Life stores) or motor vehicles offices for paying Fuel Fee.

     2. Online:

       Pay online via “Motor Vehicle Driver Services (https://www.mvdis.gov.tw/)” and click “Motor Vehicles → Fuel Fee → Fuel Fee Inquiry and Payment” for online payment.

  • When will the Fuel Fee be charged?

     1. Private vehicles and motorcycles:Annual Fuel Fee is charged in every July. (From July, 1 to July, 31.)
     2. Commercial vehicles:The Fuel Fee is paid four times a year for commercial vehicles. Seasonal Fuel Fees are charged in every March, June, September and December with respect to the payments of spring, summer, autumn and winter.

  • What if the vehicle owners did not receive the payment notice of Fuel Fee? How to apply for a reissue?

    1. For the vehicle owners who did not receive the payment notice of Fuel Fee, it is suggested the owners go to any Motor Vehicles Office (Station) in Taiwan to reissue the payment notice. Or, the owners can also apply for a reissue of resending payment notice by phone inquiry.

     2. Payment service without transaction fee in the convenience store (7-11, FamilyMart, OK stores or Hi-Life stores) is available.

  • What is the purpose for collecting Fuel Fee in Taiwan?

    According to the act of Highway (Article 27), the Fuel Fee is collected for the maintenance, repairs, constructions, and safety managements of the roads and highways. The associated collections and allocations are regulated by Ministry of Finance as well as Ministry of Transportation and Communications.

  • If I have already applied for vehicle suspension, revocation or cancellation of my license plate, should I suppose to continuously pay for Fuel Fees when driving on the road?

    For those who have suspended, revoked and canceled license plates shall apply for the drive reversion or a new license plate in order to drive on the road. Otherwise, in addition to the regular fines based on the laws, the Fuel Fees will also be charged from the alteration date of license plate to the violation date if the invalid plate is discovered.
