Content The term "electric bicycle" in the Act will be changed to "mini electric two-wheel vehicle". The Directorate General of Highways has announced that new mini electric two-wheel vehicles must be registered and licensed, and all mini electric two-wheel vehicles currently in operation must comply within two years of the implementation of the Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act from November 30, 2022. The Kaohsiung Motor Vehicles Office (KOMV) reminds owners that mini electric two-wheel vehicle without license plate will be fined up to NT$3,600.
The KOMV said that license plate may not be registered unless the owner has valid compulsory automobile liability insurance in accordance with the Compulsory Automobile Liability Insurance Act. NT$750~1,500 is fined for violation. Renewal is required before expiration of the insurance policy.
